The jazz you hear in your head is just one simple system away.

Whether you came from rock, blues, pop or country, the step from scattered practice to confident solos over jazz standards starts in the same place.

The mentorship

Split into 3 months

Month 1

Stop Guessing

We build your personal practice routine on the kickoff call, and you learn the four minor formations to solo over your first 251s.

Month 2

Freedom Genesis

You take the formations all over the neck and through every key, and solo through a full jazz standard from start to finish.

Month 3

Sound Like You

You bring bebop language into your own playing and find a sound that's yours, not a bag of borrowed licks.

The result

No more guessing or winging it. You open a standard, react to the changes and play lines that sound like jazz. Consistently, not hit or miss. Alone in your room or when someone calls a tune, you know what to play.

Meet your coach

Armin Mir

I came to jazz from blues, and my solos sounded like scales. I tried everything, and I never felt like I belonged around the guys who could really play jazz.

Then I found Pat Martino's way of thinking: convert the chords to minor and use the same few shapes everywhere. Suddenly jazz got simple, and I could finally play what I heard.

I went on to study jazz guitar at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, have played jazz professionally for over 8 years, and have played with Peter Bernstein. Today I teach the same system to guitarists from rock, blues, pop and country. Over 100 have gone through this mentorship.

FAQ

Common questions

What happens after I apply?

You answer a few short questions about your playing and your goals. If it looks like a fit, you book a free call with me. We look at where you are, where you want to be, and whether the mentorship is the right way to get there.

Who will I talk to?

Me. I do every call myself.

Who is the mentorship for?

Guitarists who already play, usually from rock, blues, pop, country or self taught by ear, and who want to finally sound like a jazz player. Some are brand new to jazz. Others have studied it for years and still can't make it sound like music. Everything comes with tabs and notation, so you don't need to be a strong reader.

"I don't have much time to practice."

That's exactly who it's built for. Your routine is 20 focused minutes a day, planned around your life on the kickoff call. Most of my students have full time jobs.

Am I too old, or not good enough yet?

No. Many of my students are in their 40s, 50s and older. If you can play a pentatonic or a major scale, that's enough to start.

Can't I just learn it on my own from YouTube or a course?

You can, and the full course is included. But most people who come to me have already tried doing it alone: YouTube, lick books, a teacher here and there. It ends up scattered and random. What changes things is one plan built for you, and someone who listens to your playing every week and tells you exactly what to fix next.

I already know a lot of theory. Is this too basic for me?

No. Many of my students know plenty of theory. The problem isn't knowing more, it's making music out of what you already know. Your plan is built around your level and the tunes you're working on.

Won't everyone end up sounding the same?

No. The formations are a starting point, not a set of licks to repeat. Music comes first, so you build lines you actually like, and month 3 is all about bringing in your own language and finding your own sound.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes. If you give the program 90 days and you're not happy with your results, you choose: I keep coaching you at no extra cost, or you get a full refund.
